Grenevia SA has received the EU co-funding for the project ‘Diversification of business operations towards net-zero carbon economy and improving employment potential’. The project will be co-funded under the European Funds for Silesia 2021-2027 programme.

The goal of the project is to develop new renewable energy technologies and services, and in particular production and repairs of wind turbine components and gearboxes to be used be in wind energy sector.

The project is including but not limited to the purchase of a licence for wind turbine production technology and the development of a machinery fleet enabling the expansion of the wind gearbox production and modernisation. A test stand intended for testing gearboxes under load will also be equipped for the necessary tests and trials. In addition, it is planned to retrain employees previously working in the coal industry in the Silesian Voivodeship.

The project implementation will contribute to the company’s transition towards the renewable energy sector, which will ultimately affect the further development of the renewable energy industry in Poland. Strengthening and improving the employment potential is also an important component of the project. The implementation of the project will enable maintaining the existing jobs and creating new career opportunities related to production operations for the RES industry. Job stability in the face of the energy transition will have a positive impact on local community development.

Important stages of project implementation

Test stand equipment

February 2025, Grenevia SA and SIEMENS Sp. z o.o. signed a contract for equipping the test stand for FAMUR Gearo, one of Grenevia’s branches, which will be an important stage in the implementation of the EU co-funded project ‘Diversification of business operations towards net-zero carbon economy and improving employment potential’.

The investment will significantly expand the test stand’s research extent and will allow for testing units with a rated power of up to 5.4 MW, compared to the current technical capacity of the stand of 1.8 MW. The new equipment will enable testing of even larger gearboxes intended for wind industry, both brand new ones and those undergoing repairs and overhauls.

The contract value is almost EUR 3.5 million. The contractor was selected in the tender procedure.

The works covered by the contract are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025.

License Agreement for the Production of a Complete Wind Turbine

July 2025, Grenevia SA signed a license agreement for the production of a complete wind turbine.

The agreement covers the license for the eno126 wind turbine in two rated power options: 4.0 MW and 4.8 MW. The license grants the right to offer, sell, manufacture, install, and service the turbine solutions under license.

The technology provider, selected through a competitive tendering procedure, is enovation GmbH – a German engineering company with extensive experience in wind technology and a strategic partner of wind turbine manufacturer eno energy GmbH.

As part of the agreement, enovation GmbH will also provide comprehensive technical documentation, engineering support, and the necessary know-how to enable local manufacturing and implementation of the technology into the Polish market.
